With the vote of 107 Senators, the Senate of Romania approves the proposal to revise the Constitution and for the Referendum to take place. The measure calls for the amendment of Article 48 of the Romanian Constitution on October 7th 2018.

3 million Romanians have signed for the Coalition for Family‘s initiative to amend the Constitution of Romania, proposing that the Family should be based on the freely agreed marriage between a man and a woman, on their equality and on the right and duty of the parents to ensure the upbringing, education and training to children, replacing the phrase marriage freely agreed between spouses, as currently provided by Alin. 1 of Art.48 (1992 Constitution). The petition gathered a world record 3 million signatures!

The Coalition for Family initiative to revise the Romanian Constitution is a unique approach in post-communist Romania and enjoys a wide national and international support of over 83% of Romanians.
