U.S. President Donald Trump attended the final day of the 2026 Presidents Cup on Sunday, September 27, at Medinah Country Club near Chicago. Trump is also the Honorary Chairman of this year’s event, a role he previously held in 2017, when the tournament was played at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey.
Upon his arrival at Medinah, the president was greeted by spectators ahead of the singles matches that conclude the competition. His presence drew considerable attention from both the public and the many accredited members of the media covering one of the most important events in international golf.
Tribuna Românească Makes Its Presidents Cup Debut
For Ziarul Tribuna Românească, this year’s edition holds special significance. For the first time, our publication received media accreditation for all Presidents Cup events, represented by journalist Radu Roman, well known to our readers for his work with the American Sports – Golf section.
This is a source of great pride for our editorial team and, above all, an opportunity to provide our readers with fresh, original reporting directly from the scene, at the heart of one of the world’s most closely followed golf tournaments.
The video accompanying this article was also filmed on location by Radu Roman, providing Tribuna Românească readers with our own footage and an authentic glimpse of the atmosphere at the 2026 Presidents Cup.
President Trump’s visit prompted organizers to introduce additional security measures, with spectators advised to arrive earlier and expect security screenings and longer entry times at the venue.
The Presidents Cup brings together 12 players on the United States Team and 12 on the International Team, which consists of golfers from outside the United States and Europe. The 2026 edition is being played on Medinah’s Course No. 3, with the final day featuring the 12 decisive singles matches.
Donald Trump’s presence continues the Presidents Cup tradition of appointing political leaders as honorary chairmen of the competition. U.S. presidents who have held this role over the years include Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George H.W. Bush.
