PETITION ONLINE FOR THE RETURN OF THE 7 SIBLINGS OF THE FURDUI FAMILY
The confiscation of the children on April 26 by the German state is an abusive and illegal act. The parents of the seven minor children between one and 15 years old, the Furdui family stands out in the Romanian community in Walsrode where they live, through the exemplary way they live their Christian life and try to educate their children in a Christian spirit and Christian values.
The natural family is sacrosanct and the state cannot arrogate its authority to take drastic and illegal actions of this kind against the family. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as the International Covenant on the Rights of the Child, the state is not allowed to dismember the natural family except in extreme circumstances and on well-founded grounds.
The family’s pain was amplified by the fact that the minors were dispersed in three different groups, including the one-year-old child who was placed in foster care. We also disapprove of the illegal tactics used by the German authorities to separate children from their parents. We note that the dismemberment of the family was made without a warrant and therefore illegal.
“We express our confidence, says Dr. Petre Costea, President of the NRA, that the German judicial authorities, known for their competence and impartiality, will soon release the children from the illegal custody of the German authorities and give them back to their parents.”.
We encourage the Romanian authorities to intervene with the German authorities for the release of the children as soon as possible. We also encourage Romanians around the world to remain in solidarity with the Furdui family and to keep the family and children in their thoughts and discussions on a daily basis.
